In Minho,
The wine is green.
But not the people who make it.

A wine produced in the delimited region that ranges the North-East
of Portugal (districts of Viana do Castelo and Braga and part of Porto, Aveiro and Viseu), being the most famous the Alvarinho,
which is put into bottles at the source,in several farms and palaces, like Palácio da Brejoeira or Adega Cooperativa de Monção.

There are another famous wines such as Quinta da Aveleda, Adega Cooperativa de Ponte Lima, Ponte da Barca, Quinta da Capela, Gatão.
The white Vinho Verde is light, fruity, dry or delicate, with refreshing piquancy, excellent to go with fish or shellfish, and it´s the most commercialized out of the region.
The larger quantity produced, belongs to the red green wines which is the drink of local population. With a rich colour and plenty bood-red spume, an alcoholic degree between 8º and 12º, refreshing, it must be drank on its way out of the barrel.
It looses quality when bottled. It goes really well with the excellentlocal food,
like lamprey (catfish), codfish or pork.
From green wines are produced excellent brandies, husk and vinics.
